Auburn University’s College of Education is excited to begin the search for an Accountant to join our team.
This individual will act as accounting liaison with Central Business and Finance areas with respect to journal entries, reporting, analysis and audit/reconciliation of accounts in a college, school or department.

Our Accountant position will report to the college’s Director of Administration/Business and Finance and will work in coordination to provide financial support for our Educational, Foundations, Leadership and Technology department along with the Dean’s office.
The core responsibilities for this position will be to manage and monitor financial accounting processes related to reconciliations, journal entries and transactional activity for both restricted and unrestricted funds.

Essential Functions Reviews and/or prepares expense vouchers, invoices, purchase requisitions, or other transactions for one or more departments, in compliance within designated limits, policies, or contracts.
Prepares monthly reconciliations, budget reports, other specialized reports, and/or analysis on a regular or ad hoc basis.
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Determines proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approves within designated limits, policies, or contracts.
Corresponds with Procurement, Contracts & Grants Accounting, Budget Services, or other departments concerning accounting and financial information.
May perform duties related to payroll, personnel actions, or similar procedures.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA with no related experience.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA and 2 years related experience.
Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Level III: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA and 4 years related experience.
Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities CPA is required if degree is not within Accounting or Finance.
Minimum Technology Skills Minimum License and Certifications Desired Qualifications Desired Qualifications Strong Excel and technical skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Customer service focused and the ability to interact with a variety of skill levels.
Experience managing multiple accounts.
Well organized with the ability to multi-task.
Experience using Banner Finance.
