Job Summary
Auburn University Libraries seeks creative, dynamic, and results-oriented candidates for the position of Student Supervisor at the Library of Architecture, Design and Construction.
The successful candidate will be hired at Specialist I/II, Library Technical commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience.
The person in this position reports to the Head of the Library of Architecture, Design and Construction (LADC).
The work hours include nights and weekends that occasionally change depending on the LADC operational hours.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of technical and specialized paraprofessional library responsibilities involved in the investigation, organization and dissemination of library materials and resources, and responds to reference and search questions involving discriminatory judgment.
The LADC is a branch of Auburn University Libraries and primarily supports the research, study, and teaching needs of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction.
The LADC is also a resource for professionals in related fields and for the community.

Essential Functions The primary duties include but are not limited to: Supervising the undergraduate student employees, and assisting with the LADC’s user technology-related resources.
Hire, manage, schedule, train, and motivate 12 to 14 undergraduate student employees.
Review and approve student timecards.
Engage in regular assessment of student employees’ performance including implementing disciplinary actions.
Assist with the review of the LADC staff timecards.
Deliver excellent customer service when answering questions at the Help Desk and assisting patrons with use of the library’s collections and services.
Provide consultations and point-of-need assistance to library patrons in use of software, technology, and equipment.
Troubleshot equipment and software technology issues and submitted and monitored help tickets to other library units as needed.
Maintain content on the department’s website and create a monthly LADC newsletter to send out to all CADC faculty.
Design signage for the LADC and instructional materials for the technology area.
Monitor and promote the safe use of the library collections, facility, and services in the absence of the Head of LADC.
Represent the department on library-wide committees and task forces as designed.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Level I: High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of relevant experience.
Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience.
Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Substitutions allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Area of Experience: Managing and processing complex data or materials and familiarity with basic computer applications and designs.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate quality customer service and possess excellent organizational, time management, social, and communication skills; be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students; take initiative to complete complex projects; possess strong interpersonal and communication skills; and attention to detail.
Familiarity with computer applications including Microsoft Office.
Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
