The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking qualified applications for a Nutrition Extension Specialist for Federal Nutrition Programs.

The Nutrition Specialist for Federal Nutrtion Programs will be a member of a dynamic and innovative statewide team working to improve the health and lives of Alabamians.
The position will provide human nutrition subject matter expertise for the Federal Nutrition Programs within the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
The Federal Nutrition Programs include three federally funded projects: 1) Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), 2) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed), and 3) Live Well Alabama Thriving Communities.
The position will provide statewide leadership in the development, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of evidence-based programs and applied research.
This is a full-time, limited term position.

Duties and responsibilities will include: Identifying/developing evidence-based curricula for nutrition education with limited-resource audiences.
Identifying/developing public health approaches / policy, system, and environmental change strategies to improve healthy food access at the local, regional, and state levels.
Ensuring compliance with Dietary Guidelines for Americans and utilization of best practices for nutrition communications in social marketing strategies to encourage healthy behavior change.
Conducting appropriate and required evaluations and providing impact reports.
Developing and conducting appropriate training opportunities for the county and regional staff of the Federal Nutrition Programs.
Disseminating extension and research scholarship through journals, digital products, and conference presentations and seek recognition of excellence in programming.
Providing service within professional organizations and on committees within the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Auburn University.
Working closely with Federal Nutrition Program Coordinators to increase visibility of, and engagement with, Federal Nutrition Programs.
The Nutrition Specialist is a twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position located on the Auburn University campus.
If hired with a master’s degree, the incumbent will be expected to complete a doctoral degree within the initial eight-year employment period.
As part of the Auburn University benefits package, the University offers tuition remission for full-time employees, up to 15 credit hours per year, at Auburn University-affiliated institutions.
The position offers a three-tiered structure for advancement.
Minimum Qualifications Earned master’s degree from an accredited institution in nutrition required at the time employment begins.
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition will be considered eligible if earned master’s degree is not in nutrition.
The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills and be an effective problem solver, work with limited supervision, and manage multiple projects.
The successful candidate must have the ability to plan, prepare, pilot test, and evaluate educational programs, conduct professional development opportunities, conduct evaluation on educational programs, and demonstrate an ability to work as a team.
Candidates should be able to utilize technology in marketing and educational implementation and should understand and value education, extension, and outreach work.
The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications Registered Dietitian Earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in nutrition desired at the time employment begins.
A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in nutrition will be considered eligible if earned doctoral degree is not in nutrition.
Experience in working with limited resource and underserved populations.
Demonstrated experience in development, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs and/or policy, system, and environmental change strategies.
