Posting Details Position Information Job Title Lecturer, Graphic Design Program Posting Number P1550F Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD) at Auburn University invites candidates to apply for a non-tenure track Lecturer position.
This is a full time position to commence in August 2024 with a three-year term and the possibility of a multi-year extension.
The successful candidate should specialize in teaching freshman-level Drawing, 2-D, and 3-D fundamentals that emphasize formal elements and principles of art and design.
The candidate will be responsible for teaching first-year courses to pre-graphic design students within a professional degree program and participate in service activities that support students in the School.
Responsibilities of the appointment are broken down as follows: 95% for teaching and 5% for service.
The teaching load consists of three studio courses (12 credit hours total) per semester.

in Graphic Design is NASAD accredited, and the curriculum emphasizes a systemic approach to design that enables students to become versatile designers, art directors and economically viable professionals.
GDES students receive hands-on instruction in a professional studio environment that fosters a strong sense of community among students and faculty.
Students establish a foundation in drawing, 2D / 3D design, and typography in lower-level coursework.
Foundational skills are then applied and extended in upper-level coursework experiences that include interactive design, user experience design, strategic branding, publication design, packaging, illustration, and image-making.
The GDES program introduces students to the professional design community by hosting exhibitions, symposia, and guest lectures by industry leaders.
An internship program provides students with real-world experience and networking opportunities.

in Graphic Design, Studio Art, or related discipline from an accredited institution at time employment begins.
Desired Qualifications Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary education environment and/or professional experience is desired.

The GDES program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the academic community’s diversity and excellence through their teaching, and service.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Desired candidates should have the ability to teach a variety of foundation graphic design studios.
