Position Summary:
The primary role of the PLC Specialist is to provide technical support to ensure that the production lines and plant equipment are operational, and provide the technical expertise to troubleshoot, repair and maintain process PLC’s, control systems and computers.
Essential Functions: Adheres to the HTGP policies and procedures Learns, demonstrates and upholds HTGP Core Values Treat all HTGP team members with respect and professional courtesy Complies with all HTGP Certification Standards; Management System (IATF16949), Environmental ISO 14001 and Health and Safety ISO 45001 policies and procedures Always strives to maintain a positive work environment EHS: Adheres to all safety policies and procedures Complies with all safety policies and 5S clean philosophy to maintain a safe, clean working environment Consistently meets company safety goals Technical: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant control systems, PLC’s, motion controllers, HMI’s and electrical systems.
Solid foundation of Siemens Step 7systems and Siemens TIA Portal software platforms (for Programmable Logic Controllers & Human Machine Interface devices) and programming motor controls Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, manuals, schematics, and blueprints to maintain and improve equipment uptime.
Set-up, configure, program, modify, and improve PLC programs.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and participating in daily pass down discussions Create and implement countermeasures for equipment based on downtime data Provide 2nd level technical support to plant electricians and technicians Work with equipment suppliers & contractors to improve equipment or processes Support and Implement capital projects as per yearly schedule Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing KPI department goals Must be hands on when problem solving and supporting equipment issues Prepares reports and presentations as required, improvements, corrective actions and quality issues etc.
Understand and applies correct LOTO procedures and leads others in same Support weekend / shutdown PM schedules for all HTGP equipment as required Ensures PM Work Orders are completed on time Documents, evaluates and improves maintenance objectives Leadership: Documents all activities in a timely manner Builds and maintains good working relationships with Team Members and Management Measures team efficiency (downtime rate, MTBF, MTTR, etc…) and assure that key performance metrics are met or exceeded Helps all direct reports with motivating, mentoring, personal and professional growth and goal setting Maintains flow of operations by directing the work of employees, and communicating production status, requirements, and problems to related departments Directs and oversees outside contractors performing maintenance, installation, or equipment modifications Education High School/GED 4 Year Degree or comparable background of work related experience related discipline preferred Reporting: Reports to: Maintenance Assistant Manager or designee Direct reports: None Competency Requirements Communicates critical issues (what, who, when, where) to Team Leader, Group Leader, Asst.
