Position Summary
The System Maintenance Technician provides endpoint installation training and support for system projects under the management of the Sales Support Team.
This includes MIU pre-installation training to customers and third party contractors, assistance during deployment of infrastructure and system implementation, and post deployment installation maintenance, auditing, and repair.
The individual in this role must coordinate efforts with customer, system deployment, system support, sales support, sales, distributors, third party contractors and to support successful systems while complying with technical requirements and meeting customer expectations.
Significant travel (exceeding 80% of time) is required.
Objectives
Troubleshooting, repair and replacement of MIU endpoints including managing inventory, reporting while maintaining Neptune installation quality standards.
Training and certifying customers, distributors and contractors on Neptune MIU installation techniques, procedures, and quality standards.
Perform follow up audits on new or remedial MIU installation.
Installation audit and troubleshooting of Data Collectors/Gateways.
Requirements
Education: Associate degree preferred, but may accept a high school diploma with work experience in lieu of degree
Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience (or entry-level with technical degree)
Special Training: System Maintenance Technicians work in a rapidly changing industry, so up-to-date skills and in-depth knowledge of a variety of systems and equipment are essential.
In any given day, they may install systems and endpoints, troubleshoot wiring problems and equipment and/or repair equipment.
They must be familiar with radio and digital systems, including cellular networks and broadband connections to computer networks.
System Maintenance Technicians must be able use data collection equipment and install endpoints.
Skills Required: System Maintenance Technicians must have good communication and technical skills to effectively diagnose and solve problems.
They must be familiar with a variety of systems and be able to perform a wide range of services, from basic repair to full installation.
They must be team players and have good customer service and project management skills to ensure that systems are configured and programmed according to the customer's needs.
The Technicians must also possess good computer and organizational skills so that they can place equipment orders and monitor service requests.
They also need hand and finger dexterity and good eyesight with the ability to determine colors.
