Responsibilities: Measures, cuts, constructs, or repairs wood or wood substitute items such as scaffolding, staging parts, panels, bin pallets, concrete forms, dry walls, and rook decking. Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies building components such as rafters, walls, staircases, windows, and frames, trim work, and cabinets. Independently plans and completes projects that involve constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Plans, measures and lay out carpentry materials using broad knowledge of wood materials and substitutes with general and precision woodworking techniques. Knowledge of metal framing for walls and drop ceiling Concrete and Masonry skills Projects involve constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior/ exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Qualifications: Carpenter must have at least 3 years' documented experience Be able to perform: Heavy work; lifting of 50 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. occasionally. Work at heights and climb ladders – (Conditions of dizziness or vertigo, uncontrolled or poorly controlled insulin dependent diabetes, uncontrolled or poorly controlled seizure disorder or any condition that would interfere with alertness will be disqualifying.) Work in confined spaces; (A history of claustrophobia, any physical limitation(s) interfering with agility or the ability to perform work in awkward and sustained postures such as severe progressive arthritis, or body size larger than the confined space opening will be disqualifying); Work in heat – over 100 degrees F; Work in a noisy environment (Must be able to wear hearing protection when necessary); Work involving potential hazardous exposures such as asbestos, machine parts, soot, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil, and fumes; Ability to function safely while wearing a respirator - Work requiring an OSHA approved respirator and proper fit tested. Standing and bending for long periods of time. Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication skills Mechanical knowledge and experience in facilities maintenance Have reliable transportation and solid work history Able to pass federal background check in order to work on federal facility.
