Position Overview Responsible for providing technical support to operations management with respect to CRH AMAT Aggregates Drilling and Blasting Program and communicate the operational Drilling & Blasting initiatives to the drilling and blasting contractors and consultants. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. Conducts blast layout surveys using GPS, drone and/or other traditional surveying methods. 2. Create 3D computer models of proposed blast layouts. 3. Conduct company Drilling & Blasting assessments. 4. Providing ongoing feedback to the Company operational leadership, and Company/Divisional Performance Managers. Measuring, monitoring, and reporting on Drilling & Blasting performance metrics. 5. Plans, designs, and surveys drill patterns in conjunction with vendors and operations management 6. Potentially assists with mining and environmental compliance issues (Permitting, CAUV, Reclamation, etc.). 7. Flying a drone for accurate pile inventory. 8. Assist in mine planning compliance efforts. Other Requirements: 1. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public always. 2. Must be willing to travel and work away from home regularly. 3. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. 4. Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time. 5. Strict adherence to CRH AMAT safety requirements and procedures. 6. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 7. Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all CRH AMAT Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule. 8. Must pass pre-employment controlled substance testing and criminal background check before being employed by Callanan Industries, Inc. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school is preferred. Experience with land surveying instruments, CAD, mine planning software also preferred. Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to the public, vendors, or employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
