This individual will serve as the lead strategist and content producer for fundraising print and digital communications at the university level and for campus partners. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy Communications and serving as a central communications manager and strategist, this position directs and overseas the unit’s content strategy to leverage content creation and placement across channels to increase philanthropic gifts to the university. This position requires the ability to manage complex communications projects, experience with comprehensive fundraising campaigns, a talent for persuasive storytelling, and management experience. Essential Functions The senior communications manager will provide guidance and decision making to team members responsible for a strategic and robust philanthropy-focused content strategy. Lead and direct the development and implementation of a campus-wide integrated communications plan and content strategy to support fundraising-focused content across multiple platforms Create and manage a digital philanthropy content hub, featuring fundraising, affinity-based and donor-specific content to support strategic, multichannel campaigns and the needs of frontline fundraisers, campus leaders and communicators to meet strategic objectives Develop and direct communications and marketing strategies to align content to donor levels and affinities for both targeted fundraising initiatives and university-wide comprehensive campaigns Develop integrated communications plans and content strategy to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the university and serve as the communications liaison for campus units in developing content and strategy related to fundraising initiatives. Guide and direct fundraising-focused storytelling projects in conjunction with an overall content strategy, producing and curating compelling content in a variety of formats including print, digital, video, event programs and more Provide strategy, concept and content for a wide range of donor-centered communications to include the Auburn Magazine, AUWire and university and unit channels, as well as major gift proposals, solicitations, impact reports, naming brochures and other collateral Work with frontline fundraisers and Advancement Marketing to create strategy and drive content creation, aligning strategy with university and unit priorities Oversee the evaluation of the effectiveness of communication, public relations and/or marketing programs using qualitative and quantitative metrics Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or a related field 5 years of experience in communications and marketing services which includes all of the following: project management, market research, content strategy, content development, writing, and media buying. Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities Advanced understanding of communications strategy, content development, targeted audience messaging and segmentation, and project management best practices. Demonstrated experience and expertise in creating and implementing an integrated content strategy in a fundraising environment and developing fundraising-specific content for multiple audiences.
