OneOp collaborates with the Department of Defense and USDA–NIFA to provide free and open-access learning opportunities within a full spectrum of family service subject areas.
Our long-standing federal partnerships allow us to meet the professional development needs of service providers with programming that reflects complex and dynamic DoD priority areas.
As a virtual organization with global reach, we facilitate the connections and shared knowledge required of providers within DoD’s Military Family Readiness System.
OneOp Communications Manager oversees the communications team and manages overall project communications through careful branding, marketing, and social media efforts for outreach, promotion, and project awareness to the general public, with specific efforts in these areas to the Cooperative Extension System and to our federal partners.
The communications team also works with individual content teams to provide guidance on targeted marketing, communications, and social media messaging.
This job may be eligible for remote work per university guidelines and policies.
Essential Functions Manage Communications: Create, implement, and evaluate a OneOp communications strategy.
Communicate the strategy to internal colleagues and external partners.
Continuously update and improve the strategy based on performance metrics, changing priorities, and project/partner needs.
Lead and oversee the OneOp communications team, providing mentorship and guidance.
Monitor OneOp’s social media accounts and communication channels, ensuring brand consistency and effective messaging.
Continue to advance OneOp’s rebranding efforts through all communications and marketing channels.
Analyze data to improve social media performance, marketing strategies, and reach.
Collaborate with content teams to establish and enhance marketing and communication best practices.
Manage the communications and marketing budget effectively.
Maintain OneOp Communications: Develop and oversee weekly and monthly communications through mailing lists.
Monitor OneOp email communications and implement customer service best practices.
Establish, implement, and analyze communication goals for OneOp, aiding content teams in achieving these objectives.
Collaborate with content teams to conduct audience analysis for more effective communication strategies.
Support the OneOp Military Family Readiness Academy: Create and execute a comprehensive marketing and promotions plan for the Military Family Readiness Academy, utilizing various channels such as mailing lists, social media, outreach, and website presence.
Develop distinctive branding for the annual Academy series and create promotional materials for distribution.
Lead the Military Family Readiness Academy marketing committee, providing oversight and guidance for all marketing and communication efforts.
Marketing Strategy for Webinars and Programming Series: Assist in crafting marketing materials and plans for OneOp webinar series, podcasts, courses, and other initiatives.
Provide monthly promotional materials and graphics to OneOp supporters and the DoD Liaison for distribution.
Develop marketing collateral for OneOp promotional activities.
Project Management: Manage various initiatives and projects aimed at promoting OneOp and reaching target audiences.
Contribute to the creation of PowerUp digital magazine by editing articles, formatting the magazine, and promoting and distributing the magazine.
Contribute to the organization’s brand awareness efforts, including messaging development, marketing materials creation, and website updates.
Collaborate on an Extension Outreach project as needed.
Website Management: Monitor and address website issues, serving as the point of contact for Auburn IT.
Develop user-friendly, engaging website pages and templates optimized for marketing.
Maintain content on the OneOp homepage to ensure it remains current and relevant.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education: Four-year college degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
Experience: 5 years of experience in marketing and communications services.
Must have 1 year experience mentoring, leading, or supervising others.
Substitutions allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities Strategic Communication: Deep understanding of communication strategies, including developing, implementing, and evaluating communication plans that align with the organizations goals and objectives with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
Leadership: Proven ability to motivate, mentor, and manage team members effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication: Demonstrated expertise crafting clear, concise, and compelling messages for various audiences and platforms.
This includes editing magazine articles, presentations, webpages, and additional communication material.
Digital Communication: Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems.
Demonstrated skills creating promotional materials, annual reports, company brochures, eye-catching visuals, videos, infographics, and presentations that enhance messaging.
Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia creation.
Brand Management: Experience in brand management, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
Data Analysis: An understanding of data analytics and the ability to measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns through metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Budget Management: Demonstrated experience managing budgets for communication campaigns.
Project Management: Effective project management skills to help in planning and executing communication campaigns efficiently.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Able to undertake other duties as deemed necessary by the organization.
Minimum Technology Skills Minimum License and Certifications Desired Qualifications Desired Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant field At least 2 years experience working in a leadership role Crisis Communication: Ability to manage communication during crises or emergencies with quick thinking, adaptability, professional aptitude, and the ability to provide clear and accurate information under pressure.
Adaptability: Conversant in industry trends and able to adapt to new technologies and communication methods.
Networking: Building and maintaining a strong professional network can be beneficial for sourcing opportunities, sharing best practices, and staying informed about industry developments.
Partner Engagement: Demonstrated experience building and maintaining positive relationships with key partners.
