Direct and indirect patient care activities. Clerical duties that include preparation, compilation, and maintenance of records as directed. Compliance with facility policies and procedures and with patient confidentiality. *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Performance of direct and indirect patient care for patients, not limited to, but to include the following duties as directed: Take and record vital signs. Patient hygiene needs and personal care functions. Linen changes and resupply Run errands to other areas and departments as related to patient care. Assist patients with nourishments. Tasks appropriate for patient’s condition, e.g., enemas, track and records intake and output, patient rounding logs, etc Assist with patient procedures as directed. Position patients for procedures. Communicate observed changes in patient’s condition. Maintain work area and assigned areas and equipment in safe sanitary condition. Use proper techniques and procedures to ensure safe working conditions. Maintain habits of good personal hygiene and follow rules of conduct. Perform daily task in accordance with Universal Precautions, infection control, safety and sanitary policies and procedures. Clean and process used equipment, supplies, and instruments. Maintain patients’ dignity, respect patients’ rights, and maintain confidentiality of their communications and medical record information. Function in clerical role, i.e., as unit clerk, as needed, to include, but not limited to: * Answer telephone with courtesy and tact, and maintain confidentiality. * Deliver messages appropriately and timely. * Report maintenance needs to the Lead Tech or RN, and follow up as directed. * Maintain par level inventory of appropriate paper goods and supplies for the department. * Complete Radiology and Lab request. * Use FAX machine, copier, and other office equipment as appropriate. Gather data for Continuous Quality Improvement activities as directed. Assist with organization of procedures to facilitate reduction of lost charges, to assist with efforts to reconcile lost charges. Perform other duties as assigned. Work other shifts and other units from regularly scheduled shift and unit. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. *QUALIFICATIONS* EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND WORK EXPIERENCE Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program or Medical Assistant Program, with one year of patient care experience, preferred. Three years of patient care experience, if not CNA qualified BCLS, required Demonstration of proper body mechanics, required. CPI training- preferred MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Knowledge of medical terminology and accepted charting abbreviations preferred. *PHYSICAL DEMANDS* Normal or corrected vision and hearing. Reaching and bending. Lifting a minimum of 25#. Ability to communicate with employees, patients and visitors. Ability to remain calm under stress. Standing on feet for long periods of time. Walking, reaching, stooping, and bending. Lifting a minimum of 25#. Grasping ability and fine hand coordination. Exposure to communicable diseases and radiations.
