Miele Manufacturing is expanding its production at a new plant in Opelika, Alabama and will focus on large-volume ovens and range cookers for the USA, Canada, and Mexico. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager who enjoys driving engagement and building all the necessary HR operations, policies, and practices in our new production plant. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a dynamic start-up company where much is still being built. An experienced strong, hands-on professional who can create the foundation for HR operations, procedures, engagement and employee selection/growth/retention. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who has a natural skill to successfully implement and administer all HR related activities. Essential Functions • Provide and maintain employment practices and procedures in accordance with plant and corporate guidelines and in compliance with governmental regulations and laws regarding fair employment practices such as EEOC, ADA, Civil Rights Act, and Affirmative Action. Reviews and edits policies and practices to maintain compliance. Observe laws, regulations, ordinances, and Miele Manufacturing-internal guidelines relevant to the plant management. Be conversant with the latest required legal knowledge in this regard and/or ensure that plant staff obtains such relevant legal knowledge. • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. • Provides and maintains effective new hire process and orientation for local and expatriates. • Provides and maintains plant personnel functions and records including promotions, merit reviews, disciplinary actions, and implementation of all policies and procedures. • Performs those administrative activities necessary for effective management and execution of human resources programs including but not limited to: • Process payroll via ADP. • Administer benefits and all leave programs including workers compensation. • Salary/budget administration. • Performance and talent management. • Conducts all plant Government required reporting, EE0-1, OSHA logs, OSHA 300A logs, etc. • Develop, maintain, and update Health and Safety programs and compliance with OSHA regulations and monitoring. • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. • Establishes and develops programs in all areas of employee relations to maintain a climate of trust and confidence. • Development of strategic goals for the HR department including FTE planning in alignment with the local Finance Department as well as Miele Manufacturing, Business Unit and Miele group goals. • Work with management to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals. • Support internal and external employer communications including social media. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field. • Minimum of 5 years’ job-related experience in a manufacturing environment. • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard plant human resources techniques, procedures, and criteria. • Must be able to manage sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems. • ADP Payroll, ADP Workforce and Workday preferred. • SPHR, PHR, SMRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
