*Lake Martin Community Hospital is looking to hire a night shift CNA. Hours are 7pm-7am. * *Must have hospital experience* *Must have current certification* *Pay range is between $12.00-$14.00 DOE.* General Summary: In accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Lake Martin Community Hospital and the Nursing Department, is a valued member of the health care team who, under close supervision of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse, performs routine service duties and basic nursing procedures to provide care, comfort and safety of patients, from admission to discharge. This includes taking and recording vital signs and reporting abnormal findings to the RN, LPN and/or Physician immediately, assisting patients with personal hygiene, eating, ambulation and/or transfer to chair. Assistance with chart initiation and order transcription may also be requested by the nurse. Intervention in emergency situations may include initiating codes and performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Time permitting, assistance with other department functions may be given when directed by the nurse, this includes but not limited to: cleaning of patient rooms and stocking of needed supplies. Adherence to all policies and procedures is expected. Any concerns should be addressed with the involved party. If there is not an acceptable outcome, the supervisory line of reporting should be initiated and continued until the issue is resolved: 1. The LPN 2. The RN charge nurse/supervisor 3. The Director of Nursing 4. The Administrator Principle Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs all appropriate procedures as outlined in the policy and procedure manual. This shall include baths, decubiti care, shaving of male patients, care of isolation patients, oral hygiene and other basic nursing care procedures and safety measures as assigned. May collect specimens when ordered. 2. Measures physical parameters such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, pulse oximeter readings, heights, weights, accu-checks, accurate intake and output measures and records on the appropriate records. May apply telemetry monitors and perform EKG’s. 3. Gives hygiene care, such as complete or partial baths, skin care, mouth care, back rubs and linen changes daily. 4. Provides general comfort and safety measures such as turning and repositioning, passive and active range of motion, ambulating, side rail usage and call light within patient and/or family member reach at all times. Can set up oxygen, administer nebulizer treatments, set up and discontinue croup tents (mist tents) and set up suction when directed. Ensures that needs of patients are met. 5. Promptly completes assignments and observes patients and notifies appropriate nurse of change in patient condition. 6. Provides patients with fresh ice, water and nourishment as needed. Assist with feeding patients when needed. 7. Monitors skin integrity, reporting any signs of skin breakdown or pressure areas immediately to the nurse. 8. Represents a caring, friendly and professional attitude to the patient/family or public that he/she has contact with. 9. Assumes responsibility for self-improvement by attendance at in-service classes, staff meetings and education related to personal growth and department needs. 10. Follows established policies of the hospital and infection control program. Minimum Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Required: 1. Must be able to demonstrate competency in accurately taking and recording vital signs, accu-checks, EKG’s, application of telemetry monitors and other procedures as assigned. 2. Interpersonal skills required to instruct patients and their families, as well as professional interaction with a variety of hospital personnel. 3. Ability to walk and stand almost constantly, as well as lift and position patients. 4. Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, fire, safety, disaster plans and infection control policies. 5. Appropriate skills in CPR. 6. Knowledge of patient rights. 7. Hospital experience required.
