Operations Manager
Reports To: General Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and successful management of all operational functions of the location; collaborates with senior leadership and the Strategic Operations team to implement operational procedures and guidelines for the location, overseeing the Warehouse and Delivery managers and ensuring safe and efficient operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Leadership and Management: Leads, manages, supports and motivates location’s Warehouse and Delivery teams through open and clear communication, and a commitment to participative management.
2.
Safety and Training: Takes accountability for safety protocol, and for oversight of training and safety of Warehouse and Delivery Departments at location.
Promotes and maintains a safe work environment at the location daily.
Helps oversee safety and security of the facilities at the location.
3.
Operational Procedures and Protocol: Works closely with Executive Team, SVPs, GMs, and Strategic Operations team to create and implement operational policies, programs, and processes for location, ensuring they are consistently administered in compliance with organizational objectives and local laws.
This includes but is not limited to processes, methods, equipment, and materials.
4.
Oversees Warehouse Manager(s), helping to ensure that all Warehouse employees are properly trained and abide by company policies and procedures and holds employees and supervisors accountable to those standards.
5.
Oversees Delivery Manager(s), helping to ensure that all Delivery employees are properly trained and abide by company policies and procedures and holds employees and supervisors accountable to those standards.
6.
Ensures general maintenance and cleanup of the facility is performed to include the warehouse, offices, and property.
7.
Work with legal department, SVP, and General Manager to ensure compliance with all supplier requirements for all warehouse functions.
8.
Performs all work activities in accordance with safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
9.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION 1.
Directs the daily workflow of the company’s Operations Department.
2.
Reports directly to the General Manager, and indirectly to the SVP, executive team, and family ownership.
3.
Uses strengths-based management so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.
4.
Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
5.
Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.
6.
Models adherence to GDH’s Mission and Values and holds staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values.
7.
Completes coaching regularly of supervised staff and annual a performance evaluation on due date.
8.
Provides direct supervision to the Warehouse Managers and Delivery Managers.
Learning Organization and Staff Training Actively participates in internal and external training opportunities.
2.
Exhibits enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.
Community Partnership Represents GDH Mission and Values at work and within the community at all times.
Technology Effectively uses office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.
Efficiently uses operations management software, including VIP.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Preferred bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field required.
2.
At least 3 years of industry-related experience including three years in warehouse/operations management required.
3.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software.
Prior use of VIP or similar software package.
4.
Highly organized, detail oriented.
5.
Access to reliable transportation.
If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in your state of residence and auto insurance.
Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen.
6.
Demonstrated ability to: • Work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
• Work effectively as a member of the leadership team.
• Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
• Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
