*Job description*
_*The Alabama Council on Human Relations (ACHR) seeks applicants for an Education Coordinator/Assistant Head Start Director*_ to oversee the staff who supervise the various portions of the ACHR Child Development Program at all Head Start and Early Head Start Centers, Family Engagement Department and the home-based programs at Darden and Edelman.
Sees that ACHR-approved curriculum is integrated into home-based EHS and that the program is conducted per the Head Start Performance Standards and Department of Health and Human Services guidelines.
This position works directly under the Head Start Director.
*Essential functions include but are not limited to:*
· Provide oversight, training, and evaluation of staff, including Early Head Start/Daycare Assistant Data Processer/IT, and Early/Head Start Center Supervisors (Edelman), (King), (Darden).
· Reports to the Head Start Director.
· Ensure that staff is meeting the needs of the children and the program, that component goals and objectives are achieved, that Performance Standards and DHR regulations are met and that each staff member is making steady progress toward his/her own goals for improvement.
· Assist supervisors as needed in each center's daily operation/supervision, including handling emergencies and unusual situations.
· Assure that needed paperwork to retain DHR licensing at each HS/EHS center is completed and in on time and that appropriate corrective actions are taken; report any problems to the CEO.
· Involved in recruitment/selection of classroom, home visit, and center management staff; see that all staff receive training and orientation in ACHR and curriculum philosophy as well as position-appropriate training.
· Evaluate teachers in assigned rooms and provide input into manager evaluations following procedures; review evaluations done by teachers; make additions/changes if needed and forward to CEO.
Share information with the HS Director about other classroom personnel affecting evaluation.
· Review center recordings system as needed/requested by HS Director/CEO and take appropriate action.
· Write corrective/disciplinary/incident memos to classroom staff as needed; see that copies transmitted to the Hs Director and Human Resource Director in sealed envelope for personnel file, copy to CEO and, filed confidentially if copy retained.
Entry into the applicant pool requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education or Family and Child Development with an emphasis on infant/toddler, five years of experience in managing related programs, prior experience with children and families of low-income (particularly with infant/toddlers), and planning and implementing similar programs.
