The Retail Supervisor will oversee day to day functions of the front end and retail sales floor.
This includes upholding company standards throughout all areas of the store, remaining aware of customer/donor needs, and monitoring and ensuring fast, accurate and friendly service from team members.
Retail Supervisors will take a hands-on approach to auditing, quality control checking and side by side involvement in daily activities in order to observe, assess, train and coach performance.
Retail Supervisors will set the example for donor experience, productivity and customer service guided by America’s Thrift Stores Core Values.
Primary Job Duties • Directs and supervises the work of departmental team members.
• Assists with recruiting, selection, training and onboarding team members.
• Provides regular observation, interaction, coaching, and recognition of team members.
• Schedules team members according to the store’s labor needs.
• Capable of performing all duties required of retail team members.
• Manages inventory tracking systems to record deliveries and stock levels.
• Analyzes daily product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages and take corrective actions to ensure sufficient inventory levels.
• Supervises cash register operations to ensure a quick, accurate and positive experience for customers.
• Controls cash & tender.
• Performs morning accounting and banking procedures as assigned.
• Receives and responds to customer/donor questions, requests and complaints.
• Delivers a positive and unforgettable customer/donor experience by setting the example, training and coaching customer service expectations to team members.
• Ensures high standards of merchandise freshness, condition, pricing, and shop-ability.
• Creates and maintains visually appealing merchandise displays.
• May be called upon to assist General Manager with the set-up of sales and marketing promotions & programs.
• Maintains respectful, values-driven workplace.
• Uses open communication tools and converts team member input into meaningful action.
• Brings complaints to the attention of Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager, in order to resolve issues consistent with America’s Thrift Stores values, policies and procedures.
• Protects company assets and information by ensuring their safe handling, security and integrity.
• Proactively promotes loss prevention awareness by upholding procedures and ensuring policies are in place.
• Maintains a safe work environment through education, consistent follow up, ensuring policies and procedures are in place, and supporting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
• In the absence of the Assistant Store Manager, oversees, implements and administers the retail process and team in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
• Fulfills manager on duty responsibilities and takes reasonable action in the absence of the Assistant Store Manager and/or General Manager.
• Performs any other task, function or responsibility as instructed by their immediate supervisor and/or superior manager of the Company.
Skills & Qualifications • At least two years’ experience as supervisor, team lead and/or key holder in retail industry.
• Basic Mathematical skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic reading comprehension skills.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to carry up to and lift up to 50 lbs.
as well as push and pull up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written forms.
• Ability to observe, assess and coach the work of others.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or verbal form.
• Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.
• Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.
