Job Description: Assistant Branch Manager
Wage Classification: Non-Exempt/ Grade 8
Reports To: Branch Manager
Supervises: Has Supervisory Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager by overseeing the efficient operations of the branch to ensure all operational functions are completely and properly performed by the staff.
He/She has overall knowledge of the Bank’s policies, procedures and goals and assists in training and implementing them to branch personnel.
Assist in managing day-to-day branch operations and reports back to Branch Manager on a routine basis.
Keeps branch personnel motivated and focused on the Bank’s mission.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE SKILLS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Assist Branch Manager Analyzes customer workflow and estimates demand for employee services Determines worker availability based on vacancies, vacations, performances and other factors Assign duties and schedules Assists manager with training programs, assuring that cross-training is an ongoing project and plans accordingly Able to deal with the adjustment of schedules to meet emergencies caused by sickness, terminations, extended leaves, or increase customer demands Make recommendations on long range plans and budget for branch Determines amount of funds branch keeps in order to stay functional Supervises the orientation of new employees to the branch on job duties and work rules Conducts on the job training in bank procedures Keeps the Branch Manager or supervisor informed on performances and promotion potential of branch personnel Completes performance evaluations for branch personnel.
Assign’s work on a fair and impartial basis.
Trains and delegates staff members for positions of increasing responsibility.
Recognizes and takes steps to prevent potential personnel problems from becoming serious.
Takes corrective action in a constructive manner privately and tactfully.
Considerate of opinions and feelings of individuals displays interest in staff welfare and makes himself/herself available to staff for consultation.
Ensure the safety and security of bank employees, customers and consumers to the best of his or his/her ability.
Ensure that all confidential records in the work area are properly secured during the day and night.
Conducts regular unannounced audits of all teller cash.
Ensures that the surveillance equipment, alarms, cameras and lighting are working properly and routine security reports completed.
Maintains strict adherence to dual control daily as well as bank opening and closing procedures.
Ensures that all employees are trained in all aspects of bank security and regulations.
Ensures proper equipment training and maintenance including computer back-up, input and storage.
Sell and/or refer bank products and services to customers and prospects.
Promote a positive and productive work environment Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY Supervises the work of branch operations employees.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these directly reporting employees, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include decision making and/or making recommendations on interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of bank procedures relating to receiving and paying out money.
Resolving customer problems with their accounts and security.
Reading skills to comprehend directives, policy manuals, regulations and similar complex documents.
Math skills to add columns of figures, multiply and divide using decimals Able to balance numerical reports.
Analysis and planning skills to develop work schedules and coordinate cash management.
Ability to supervise subordinates and maintain productive and motivational work environment.
Ability to mediate stressful situations and resolve conflicts and problems involving subordinates and/or customers.
Ability to read and write clearly and effectively Ability to lift/transport up to 50lbs Working knowledge of branch machinery and general office equipment (teller machines, branch capture, computer programs, typewriter, copier, fax machine, telephone, etc) Requires sitting/standing for extended periods Good oral and written communication skills Ability to use independent judgment Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity Requires frequent bending or stooping Ability to use logic in problem solving Ability to learn and retain knowledge Ability to maintain confidential information Regular and predictable attendance Ability to work cooperatively with supervision and co-workers Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner Ability to follow policies and rules of AuburnBank ORGANIZATION Has duty and responsibility to make recommendations to supervisor concerning possible methods to improve department FINANCES Has responsibility to make recommendations to supervisor concerning budgetary needs of the department RELATIONSHIPS Responsible to the Branch Manager for the fulfillment of functions, responsibilities, and authority and for their proper interpretation Extensive contact with customers and the public; conduct relationships in a manner that enhances the overall marketing effort of the bank May be called upon from time to time to participate with community organizations and projects EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED equivalent required 2 years cash handling experience required 5 years banking experience preferred
