Position Title Information Technology Lead Specialist
Job Summary
Tuskegee University is seeking an Information Technology Lead Specialist to join our growing Technology Team.
To provide technical support, managing service requests, and provide troubleshooting on various technology systems and software at the College of Engineering.
This candidate will work with Faculty, students, and colleagues to maintain systems, support operations, evaluate new technologies, work with central OIT to procure new systems, install computer systems, network equipment, AV systems and engineering lab platforms.
Essential Job Duties
We are looking for a candidate that is motivated to work at a dynamic university considering the opportunity to learn and lead in several important initiatives at the College as well as to partner with OIT initiatives.
The ideal candidate must enjoy discussing or explaining complex systems with non-technical peers and be an ambitious self-starting technical innovator and IT professional with a passion for engineering and technology.
The ideal candidate will be adept at communicating highly technical topics with teammates, management, faculty, staff, and students.
The IT Manager reports to the Dean of Engineering College with a dotted reporting to the CIO.
Leads the technical project management and implementation for College of Engineering IT operations and serves as the subject matter expert for all IT projects.
This includes computer technology interfaces with engineering hardware such as 3D printers and scanners, digital microscopes, and other instruments.
Closely work with the IT Help Desk team in OIT and works collaboratively with Office of the Dean staff.
Represents Engineering College IT functions and services to colleagues and clients and collaborates with peers and partners throughout the organization.
Manage technical processes, resource allocation and timeline in collaboration with the Office of Dean and OIT.
Manage procurements and life cycles for IT assets in collaboration with OIT.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Minimum 5 years of IT experience in Information Technology or Systems/Network Administration.
Physical Demands
Skills and Attributes
Experience working in computer hardware, software, network, is preferred.
Industry certifications preferred.
Possess expert level knowledge of computer network and server infrastructure and how broadcasting workflows can be enhanced using these technologies.
Must have extensive experience managing critical IT systems, applications, and networks.
Ability to collaborate and lead a culture or cust01ner service and communicate efficiently with varying disciplines and personalities for both the internal and external customer.
