Qualifications (No Exceptions) Minimum requirement is a Child Development Associate (CDA) Must be 19 years of age CPR and First Aid Certified Child Care Training to include but not limited to health and safety, child development, early childhood education, workshops, conferences, and more Requirements (No Exceptions) Successful Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Background Check Successful ABI/FBI Fingerprint Background Check Current TB Test 3 Professional References Position Summary: The Auxiliary Teacher for the Office of School Readiness (OSR) First Class Pre-K will work with the Lead Teacher, Education Coordinator/Executive Director, OSR Mentor/Coach and volunteers as they foster learning, growth, and development and Kindergarten Readiness, for each child through the use of high quality, developmentally appropriate instruction, ongoing assessments and parental engagement. Essential Functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Assist the OSR Lead Teacher with planning, preparing and delivery of lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. • Assist with the Plan for instruction by creating a daily schedule, daily lesson plans, weekly/monthly themes, and lessons. • Assist with developing lessons and free choice activities around themes or studies, maximize learning in a meaningful context • Assist with managing the scholar’s behavior in the classroom by establishing guidelines and adhering to the procedures established. • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. • Assist with and maintain accurate and complete records of scholar’s progress and development. • Encourage and promote parental involvement through offering volunteer opportunities and family engagement activities throughout the year. • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. • Observe and evaluate the scholar’s performance and development. • Assist with providing a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities • Respect confidentiality regarding scholar’s performance and records. • Communicate program needs and or concerns with the appropriate staff. • Adhere to all GPCDC, OSR, and DHR policies and procedures. • Follow Teaching Strategies to ensure the effectiveness of instructional materials being taught. • Ensure that all classroom supplies are safe, clean, and readily available for use to the scholars. • Attend a minimum of 10 hours of OSR sponsored training each year plus 12 additional hour offered by local or regional programs for a total of 20 training hours. • Assist in the development of a comprehensive plan for family involvement. • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with children from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. • Encourage parent and community involvement. • Participate in appropriate professional activities including all mandatory Professional Development. • Perform requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) at minimum or at least 9 credit hours of college work in the field of Early Childhood Education or Childhood from an accredited institution. • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis. • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program. • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology. • Meet professional teacher education requirements of OSR. Assist with fundraising and enrollment efforts Other duties as assigned by executive director, center director, assistant director, and lead teacher Work Environment: OSR Classroom Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Travel: Occasional, as needed for Professional Development Training ***Potential for annual bonus based on enrollment and performance appraisal.
