The teacher is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an environment activities and adult/child interaction that create an appropriate environment for the child's development.
The teacher is responsible for maintaining smooth functioning of the classroom, center, and program by supervising classroom volunteers, displaying appropriate work habits, keeping records according to procedures, participating in training and observation/feedback, and upholding agency policies, practices and procedures as well as state and national standards.
General Job Skills/ Work Habits: * Maintain consistent attendance.
* Present at work post and ready for work at agreed time.
* Keep accurate and up-to-date sign in/sign out sheets.
* Communicate and express opinions with supervisors and others calmly and courteously; if needed, arrange appointment for confidential discussions with staff at a mutually agreed time, away from children and uninvolved parties.
* Understand and comply with agency philosophy on working with children and families adhere to practices based on current knowledge in the field.
Job Duties: * Curriculum Implementation- work daily with coworkers to write/discuss children's current interests and needs to create daily lesson plans for the week, gather and prepare materials needed for the next day's activities.
(Lesson Plans should be posted on the wall weekly).
* Application of Child Development Principles- facilitate children's development of communication skills, self-esteem and learning processes through positive interactions, playing, interacting and carrying conversations with children throughout the way that are directly related to the child's interests and actions.

* Demonstrate Respect- understanding normal development of children and encourage positive behaviors and ways of resolving conflicts over time.
Teachers should always speak in a calm, moderate voice and express interest and concern toward children's problems.
* Encourage children's independence and problem solving and sense of self control.
* Practice social inclusion of children.
* Practice Formal Routines- greet children as they arrive, inform children of expected visitors, teacher absence, special activities or changes in the daily routine.
* Always serve as a role model at all times.
* Maintain a clean and tidy classroom environment.
