*Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator*

*Summary*
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator will work directly under the Resident Services Director and has overall responsibility for serving as the backbone of the FSS program.
FSS coordinators coach program participants, conduct needs assessments, provide referrals to services and trainings, and help participants stay on track to achieve their goals.
FSS coordinators also maintain program records, build partnerships with service providers, report on program outcomes, and perform other tasks as required.
*Essential Job Functions* Under the general direction of the Resident Services Director, the FSS Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, evaluating and overseeing programs designed to increase the economic self-sufficiency of low-income families and thereby reduce their need for subsidized programs and services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program in accordance with regulations promulgated by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and policies set by Opelika Housing Authority * Leads the preparation and submission of Quarterly Reports to HUD, Opelika Housing Authority, and any other entities which may require them * Develops or assists with the development of Action Plan polices for the program with the recommendations of the Program Coordinating Committee * Supervises and participates in the preparation and maintenance of program materials, reports and records such as assessments, financial records, activity reports and case management records * Maintains data regarding FSS services and accomplishments and prepares reports summarizing these service data for use by the Opelika Housing Authority, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the community of service providers assisting with the delivery of services * Maintains individual client case files for FSS programs, which include counseling sessions and escrow accruals * Serves as liaison among and between related departments within Opelika Housing Authority whose goals and daily work product relates to the FSS program including but not limited to housing choice voucher, public housing, finance and other resident services * Serves on special boards and committees serving Opelika Housing Authority residents needs and represents Opelika Housing Authority at workshops and training programs * Networks with community agencies, determines key leadership from these agencies and coordinates the formation and ongoing viability of a Program Coordinating Committee to provide services, technical assistance and policy guidance * Collaborates with community agencies and mainstream providers for the provision of these services for clients * Contracts through Memoranda of Agreement or contracts with community agencies and mainstream providers to ensure on-going provision of these services for clients * Interviews and determines the eligibility of applicants for the FSS Program * Assesses service needs of program participants, and through case management, goal setting, referrals and monitoring assists participants in accessing appropriate public or private community agencies to obtain specialized types of assistance * Reviews case records to update and monitor client needs * Maintains knowledge of successful national and local efforts to assist low-income families achieve economic self-sufficiency * Develops, implements, and monitors administrative policies, procedures, services, and standards for the program * Recruits new participants, and retains current participants * Demonstrates the ability to solve problems with creative solutions * Takes initiative * Flexible and adaptable to an ever-changing environment * Ongoing learner * The position may require occasional nights and weekends.
* Additional duties as assigned *Minimum Qualifications* * Empathy with families who enroll in the FSS program, a commitment to the mission of the FSS program, and the ability to be nonjudgmental in working with FSS participants * Prior employment experience related to case management * Experience working with low-income families and diverse populations * Excellent written, communication and organizational skills * Knowledge of resources available in the local community to help residents increase their earnings and assets * Knowledge of pertinent HUD regulations * Prior employment experience related to the public housing or Housing Choice Voucher program * Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning, implementing, and evaluating program work assignments * Experience working with Federal Grant Programs Job Type: Full-time Pay: $21.
