The Engineering Associate will work directly with the research lab manager, faculty, and staff to perform a variety of tasks requiring the application of engineering concepts, principles, and practices in support of research and/or instruction. Essential Functions Provide installation, maintenance, and technical support of laboratory equipment within the Electrical and Computer Engineering research labs. Coordinate with lab manager to schedule preventative maintenance and outages for equipment and facilities, while limiting downtime. Maintain inventory of replacement parts and maintenance supplies for all equipment and facilities. Assist with the design of prototype equipment, instruments, devices, components, and systems. Operate machinery and equipment associated with research and/or instruction. Coordinate moving and installation of heavy equipment and heavy materials. Other duties as applicable for the effective functioning of departmental research laboratories. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Level I: A.S. in a technical or scientific field plus 6 years of experience in engineering practices and principles. Level II: A.S. in a technical or scientific field plus 8 years of experience in engineering practices and principles. Level III: A.S. in a technical or scientific field plus 10 years of experience in engineering practices and principles. Focus of Education: Degree in Physics, Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance or related technical field. Substitutions allowed for Education: When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education. Substitutions allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
