The Community Assistant (CA) position is not just any part-time student job.
The Community Assistant plays a vital role in creating a supportive and vibrant living environment within a student housing apartment community.
They are responsible for assisting residents with various needs, promoting community engagement, and maintaining a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
The Community Assistant serves as a resource, provides exceptional customer service, and contributes to the overall success and well-being of the residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Resident Support: Assist residents with inquiries, concerns, and requests in a friendly and professional manner.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding community policies, procedures, and services.
Provide guidance and referrals to appropriate campus resources when necessary.
Community Engagement: Develop and implement engaging activities, events, and programs that foster community spirit and encourage resident involvement.
Collaborate with fellow Community Assistants and staff to create a diverse and inclusive community that promotes social connections and personal growth.
Administrative Duties: Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing resident inquiries.
Maintain accurate resident records and documentation.
Support the coordination of room assignments, move-ins, and move-outs.
Assist with maintaining community bulletin boards, newsletters, and other communication channels.
Safety and Security: Promote a safe and secure living environment by adhering to and enforcing community policies and procedures.
Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and potential policy violations to appropriate staff members promptly.
Assist with emergency response and crisis management protocols.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to residents, prospective residents, and their guests.
Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere by promptly addressing concerns, maintaining a clean and organized community space, and ensuring a positive resident experience.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other Community Assistants and staff members to ensure seamless operations and a cohesive residential community.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Support and assist Resident Directors and other staff members as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor others.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about campus resources and services.
Understanding of and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respect.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn software applications.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional special events.
Lives on-site at the property.
Ability to be on-call for emergencies.
Current account is in good standing.
