This is an exempt, full-time, 12-month, live-in position. The Area Coordinator oversees one or more of the six residential areas. Visit to learn more about our commitment to expanding equity and inclusion for all. Essential Functions The Area Coordinator oversees and manages the daily operations of a residential area. This is a live-on position that serves in an on-call rotation (about one week every month). Directly supervise the Graduate Area Coordinators and indirectly supervise the Resident Assistants in their residential area. Responsible for the daily functions of the area, including administrative duties, roommate conflicts, room change requests, and reporting facilities issues. Adjudicates student conduct cases, including assigning charges, meeting with students, issuing outcomes, and following up with residents to ensure all deadlines are met. Oversees programmatic efforts in their residential area, including maintaining a budget for community development and approving program proposals. University Housing maintains a committee structure for the department and the Area Coordinator may chair or serve on departmental committees. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Residence Life. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Level I - Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position with no experience. Level II - Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 2 years experience in residential life/residential education programming Level III - Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 4 years experience in residential life/residential education programming Substitutions allowed for Experience: Graduate degrees accepted in lieu of experience, at a rate of one year relevant education per year of required experience. Work-related experience in housing and residence life or student affairs.
